Cubic Corp. [CUB] on Monday said it has acquired the software technology company Intific, Inc., strengthening its capabilities in virtual simulation and advance research.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Texas-based Intific had about $14 million in sales last year and has 80 employees.
Intific has wide ranging expertise in simulation, animation, human-machine interaction, robotics, neuroscience, education, visualization, gaming, artificial intelligence, and networking. Cubic said the acquisition enables it to “broaden its presence in a variety of adjacent businesses in the cyber security, next-generation defense technologies including game-based learning solutions, and transportation-related training applications.”
“We plan to harness the creative energy of Intific’s workforce and to combine their considerable portfolio of leading edge capabilities and solutions with our market footprint and product mix,” Dave Schmitz, president of Cubic Defense Systems, said in a statement.
Intific’s customers include the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Transportation Department’s Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, and the Air Force Research Laboratory. The company recently received the award for DARPA’s Foundational Cyberwarfare Project, called Plan X, to develop platforms for the Defense Department to plan for, conduct, and assess cyber warfare in a manner similar to kinetic warfare.
