Curtiss-Wright [CW] yesterday said its Controls business unit has acquired Norway-based VMETRO for $72 million, boosting its position in embedded computer products for aerospace, defense, industrial, communications and medical markets.
“The addition of VMETRO raises Curtiss-Wright’s leadership position in the aerospace and defense embedded computing market,” David Adams, president of Curtiss-Wright Controls, said in a statement. “VMETRO’s engineering expertise and broad product offerings in key market areas, as well as their strong United Kingdom and European presence, will significantly expand Curtiss-Wright’s ability to serve customers worldwide.”
VMETRO has 200 employees worldwide. In addition to its headquarters and engineering in Norway, it has sales, engineering and distribution networks in Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, the United States and Asia.
VMETRO embedded computing solutions are centered on digital signal processing boards for use in commercial and ruggedized environments and can be deployed in the laboratory or in ground, sea or and air applications.
The company also offers data recorders and storage, protocol and bus analyzers, and network storage products.
VMETRO will operate under Curtiss-Wright Controls’ Embedded Computing Group.
