Lockheed Martin [LMT] has added Baltimore-based firm CyberPoint International LLC
to its Cyber Security Alliance, the company said Tuesday.
Beginning as a small consultancy in 2009, CyberPoint has grown to include international and federal customers. The firm continues to provide consulting services as well as a range of network security products and research from its CyberPoint Labs. The company offers more traditional network monitoring and mitigation tools in addition to software that quantifies cyber vulnerabilities in financial losses, a fingerprint-enabled USB drive, and a program called Clearable that scans social media for employers and school admissions directors considering a candidate.
“We know that one company or solution alone can’t solve the global cyber security challenges we face and it will take collaboration, cooperation and the collective strengths of a diverse array of leading technology companies to innovate and deliver seamless solutions,” Mark Raugas, director of CyberPoint Labs, said of joining the alliance.
CyberPoint will join 21 other firms in the alliance: Schneider Electric, ArcSight, CA, Inc. [CA], Cisco [CSCO], Citrix [CTXS], Dell [DELL], EMC Corp. [EMC] and its RSA security division, FireEye [FEYE], HP [HP], Intel [INTC], Juniper Networks [JNPR], McAfee [MFE], Microsoft [MSFT], NetApp [NTAP], Red Hat [RHT], Splunk [SPLK], Symantec [SYMC], Trustwave, Verizon [VZ] and VMware [VMW].
The alliance was formed in 2009 when Lockheed Martin opened its 26,000 square foot NexGen Innovation and Technology Center in Gaithersburg, Md. Prospective customers can test software at the NexGen center and ensure its security end-to-end before they purchase and field it (Defense Daily, Oct. 31, 2013).
