Department of Air Force Has 20 Percent More Infrastructure Than Needed, Official Says

The Department of the Air Force (DAF) has 20 percent more infrastructure, including bases, than needed, a department official said on Wednesday. "Fact--we probably have about 20 percent more infrastructure than we need for our Air Force right now, and Congress currently does not allow us or there's no discussion of a BRAC to reduce these installations," Ravi Chaudhary, the assistant secretary of the Air Force for energy, installations, and environment, told an Air & Space Forces Association virtual forum.…
