The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) plans to deploy Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) units to 28 additional airports starting this summer, adding to the airports where the whole body imaging technology is already deployed. So far the Transportation Security Administration has contracted to buy 450 AIT units with Recovery Act funds and has deployed 58 of the systems to 24 airports nationwide.
