The Department of Homeland Security’s National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD), Office of Cyber Security and Communications, has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for Block 3.0 of the National Cybersecurity Protection System, also known as Einstein. Block 3.0 will provide the federal government with an intrusion prevention service. The current system, Einstein 1.0, detects computer network intrusions, although not in real-time. The Block 2.0 system in testing is supposed to provide real-time detection of network intrusions. Companies must register for the RFI, which is classified, at http://www.dhscyber.net, by July 22.
