The Department of Homeland Security’s Science & Technology (S&T) Directorate has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for the Time Recorded Ubiquitous Sensor Technologies (TRUST) project, which is aimed at finding innovative solutions to detect and alert to the presence of dangerous cargo in maritime shipping containers during their transit to U.S. ports. TRUST is different from the nearly two-year old Safe Container (SAFECON) project in that SAFECON focuses on the short dwell-time goal whereas TRUST goals are to detect the presence of dangerous cargo while the container transits from the port of origins to the U.S. port of destination, assumed to be a minimum of five days. TRUST also allows system components to be mounted on or internal to the container. TRUST is aimed at finding game changing technologies that offer break-through potential. Sol. No. TRUST. A workshop is planned for Dec. 11. Respond by Jan. 16, 2009. Contact: Emily Graham, contract specialist, 202-254-5611, [email protected].
