The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate will host a one-day Counter-Improvised Explosive Device industry outreach workshop on Dec. 10 in Arlington, Va. The workshop will cover the challenges associated with protecting Large Public Events (LPE) from Person-Borne IEDs, including needs and requirements, DHS program activities to develop and test LPE standoff countermeasure architectures, a unique testbed that has been developed for testing and evaluating countermeasure architectures, results and lessons learned from a first-generation countermeasure architecture at an LPE, concepts for in integrated countermeasure sensing and interdiction architecture for LPEs, system integration concepts, and how to participate in DHS test and evaluation activities.
