The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate, Explosives Division, has issued a Broad Agency Announcement for improved Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) that can be used for the portable detection of metallic and non-metallic anomalies on individual personnel with the assistance of Automated Threat Recognition. Metal Detection requirements shall be no less than the current capabilities of the Enhanced Metal Detection systems currently being deployed by DHS component agencies. The ability of the AIT system to detect nonmetallic objects shall be no less than the capabilities of the AIT systems currently being certified by the Transportation Security Laboratory. The imager must be portable in that it can easily be transported and assembled at various indoor and outdoor operational locations. Detailed requirements are contained in the synopsis.
