The Defense Department said Friday it awarded Lockheed Martin [LMT] a $1.9 billion contract to operate its Global Information Grid networks and related services.
The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract includes a mix of firm-fixed-price, fixed-price with incentive, cost-plus-incentive-fee, cost-plus and fixed-fee pricing plans. The contract is also to sustain the existing network and subsequent technology enhancement.
The contract is good for a base period of three years, from July 9, 2012, through July 8, 2015, and includes two two-year option periods.
The original solicitation was issued as a full and open competition and two proposals were received.
