The Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) have issued a joint FY ’10 solicitation for transformational research focused on detection systems, individual sensors or other research that is potentially relevant to the detection of nuclear weapons, special nuclear material, radiation dispersal devices and related threats. In addition to furthering knowledge in new technologies, the research initiative aims to develop intellectual capacity in fields relevant to long-term advances in nuclear detection capability. DNDO and NSF expect to make seven to eight awards in FY ’10 not to exceed $400,000 annually per contract for up to five years. A total of $3 million is available for the program in FY ’10. Proposals are due by April 15. Contact: Nicholas Prins, deputy assistant director, Transformational and Applied Research Directorate, 202- 254-7473, [email protected].
