The Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has issued a Sources Sought notice to identify U.S. universities that have established partnering relationships with international universities in order to address basic and early applied science opportunities to reduce, eliminate, and counter weapons of mass destruction (WMD) across the CBRNE spectrum. DTRA is interested in fundamental research in the following areas: distributed approaches to comparative infectious disease dynamics; infectious disease prevalence and reporting; characterization of pathogens endemic to university partner nation; fundamental research supporting pre-treatments and therapeutics for virus endemic to international partner nation; fundamental research supporting development of therapeutics for endemic or emergent pathogens within international partner nation; science of WMD sensing and recognition; cognitive, information and network science; science for protection; science to defeat WMD; and science to secure WMD.
