Israel’s Elbit Systems [ELST] on Thursday said it has acquired Rokar International from BAE Systems, Inc. for $31 million, pulling in a key supplier of GPS receivers and guidance systems used in Elbit’s products.
“There is increasing demand for our networked precision fire solutions,” Bezhalel Machlis, Elbit’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “Rokar’s technologies are integrated into our solutions and the acquisition will further enhance our capabilities in this growing area of activity.”
Rokar is based in Jerusalem and develops, manufactures, integrates and support GPS receivers and guidance systems for defense applications. The new Elbit business unit provides GPS solutions for space, air, land and naval platforms, and for rockets, smart munitions and projectiles.
Rokar’s Satellite Navigation Immune Receiver product family meets requirements for overcoming emerging GPS jammer threats.
BAE Systems, Inc. is the U.S.-based subsidiary of Britain’s BAE Systems plc.
