The Marine Corps has awarded Elbit Systems of America a new $500 million contract to continue delivering the new Squad Binocular Night Vision Goggles (SBNVG).
The new deal is Elbit America’s second indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for SBNVGs, which are designed to provide Marines with a lighter system and improved depth perception.
The Marine Corps is expected to place an initial $126.9 million order for SBNVGs under the ID/IQ deal , according to the Pentagon, which noted that three total bids were submitted for the new contract.
The initial $249 million SBNVG contract was awarded in September 2019 to L3Harris Technologies [LHX], with Elbit America taking over the work after acquiring the Harris Night Vision business for $350 million that same month (Defense Daily, Sept. 16 2019).
Erik Fox, Elbit America’s vice president and general for night vision, told Defense Daily the company has delivered over 15,000 SBNVGs systems to the Marine Corps to date.
Work on the new $500 million SBNVG night vision device contract is expected to be completed by November 2028, according to the Pentagon.
