The cyber security firm FireEye [FEYE] on April 20 announced the changing availability of two products, Continuous Guidance and Helix.
Continuous Guidance is a new service tier of FireEye as a Service (FaaS). The product leverages company analysts to detect and respond to cyber threats quickly in order to minimize potential business impacts of attacks.
The company said this service tier applies FireEye’s “intelligence-led approach to the managed detection and response needs of customers, utilizing machine, adversary, and victim intelligence to identify missed threats and quickly deliver new protections at scale.”
When FaaS detects a threat, company analysts validate and triage the incident and assign a severity rating for future use. Continuous Guidance notifies customers in incident advisories that provide information on how the analysts reached their conclusion, cyber artifacts found, and relevant threat intelligence to understand the attacks. When an incident is known, FireEye provides remediation recommendations and may recommend steps to determine an attack’s scope if further investigation is required, FireEye said.
Continuous Guidance will start becoming generally available May 1 and is priced based on an organization’s personnel count rather than number of devices, the company said.
“With Continuous Guidance, organizations looking to enhance their existing teams or service provider support will benefit from the threat detection and validation, coupled with unprecedented visibility into emerging threats that enable them to investigate and respond to threats faster,” Tony Kolish, FireEye executive vice president of customer services, said in a statement.
FireEye highlighted the Continuance Guidance service can also use the second new product availability, FireEye Helix, which was made generally available internationally.
The Helix cyber security platform combines over 300 technology integrations and with basic security tools in-use by customers, including firewalls, anti-virus and Security Information and Event Management. These tools are all centralized into a unified management and analytics interface designed by and for security practitioners, the company said.
Helix was developed to address customers’ most difficult security problems like thousands of alerts, dozens of disconnected products, and the related strain of resources.
“We set out on a journey nearly three years ago to bring together the industry’s leading intelligence, network and endpoint security offerings, consulting knowledge, and trusted partners to create the first intelligence-led security platform. With Helix, we are delivering the basis of simpler, integrated, and automated security operations with a powerful, central hub that will reduce risk and costs for our customers,” Grady Summers, executive vice president and Chief Technology Officer at FireEye, said in a statement
Helix pricing and deployment operates under the “as-a-service” subscription model to scale with an organization’s business, FireEye said.
The company also said Helix is meant to make it easy for organizations of any size to use the capabilities, regardless of whether they have their own security operations centers or rely on the company’s managed security services partners.
