FLIR Systems, Inc. (FLIR) announced Nov. 3 that it has been awarded a multi year contract from the Brazilian Navy for six Sea Star SAFIREr III infrared multi-sensor surveillance systems along with a provision for a total of 12 systems, training and other services. The value of the contract has been mandated as confidential per the requirements of the Brazilian Ministry of Defense.
“FLIR Systems is honored to continue our longstanding support of the military, police and private operators in Brazil,” Earl Lewis, president and CEO of FLIR Systems, said. “The AgustaWestland Super Lynx is a valued asset of the Brazilian Navy for their maritime operations in harsh environmental conditions. FLIR Systems’ leadership in airborne maritime surveillance and the multi-sensor advantages of the Sea Star SAFIRE III made it a logical choice to protect Brazil’s high value national assets.”
FLIR Systems has delivered more than 70 airborne sensor systems to the Brazilian military, municipal and federal police, as well as private operators. The company maintains an active and equipped service and completion center in the region.
