The French Delegation Generale Pour L’armement (DGA) is the first subscriber to NATO’s Join Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Step 1 Testing under the Distributed Networked Battle Labs framework managed by the NATO C3 Agency (NC3A).

The DGA also will be the first by a nation to take advantage of the NC3A capabilities and to test the compliance of their national intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) system with the ISAF IR Backbone reference system hosted at NC3A.

The testing this month will support risk reduction for the deployment of the French ISR system to ISAF.

In July 2009, NATO’s Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (JISR) Concept was approved by the Military Committee.

NATO JISR is a transformational concept, which seeks to improve the processes of direction, collection, processing and dissemination of information to provide “the right information to the right person at the right time,” a NATO statement said.
