Unseenlabs on Tuesday said it has closed a $92 million funding round that will help the company further expand its observation capabilities with an expanding constellation of radio frequency sensing satellites for maritime domain awareness, and boost its presence in Asian and U.S. markets.
The Rennes, France-based company is scheduled to have its 12th and 13th RF-based satellites launched in March as part of
SpaceX’s Transporter-10 mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif.
Unseenlab’s RF detection technology detects passive emissions from ships’ electronic systems to locate them even if they attempt to go dark by turning off their automatic identification system transponders.
The new funding round includes Supernova Invest, ISALT, and UNEXO. So far, Unseenlabs has raised $130 million in private capital. Existing backers 360 Capital, OMNES, Bpifrance, Breizh Up, and S2G Ventures also participated in the round.
Unseenlabs said the funding will also help it innovate and deploy new products. The company currently plans a constellation of 25 satellites.
“This funding will allow us to accelerate our growth, particularly by developing new solutions and strengthening our presence in the private sector,” Clement Galic, Unseenlabs’ CEO, said in a statement.
