General Dynamics [GD] in February acquired a small developer and supplier of broadband power amplifiers used in tactical communications systems for $65 million in cash, the company disclosed earlier this month in its first quarter earnings filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Integrated Defense Systems, Inc. (IDSI), which has 90 employees and is based in Pennsylvania, produces advanced filtering technologies and broadband power amplifiers used in software defined radios and counter-improvised explosive device technologies.

GD is integrating IDSI into its C4 Systems business unit.

The acquisition allows GD to integrate a component supplier into its manufacturing base for software defined radios and related technologies and also opens up new markets for the company. GD is just one of IDSI’s customers.

IDSI’s sales were not disclosed.
