General Dynamics’ [GD] Information Technology division’s cloud computing offering (GDIT Cloud) received Federal Risk Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) authorization, the company said Monday.
FedRAMP is a U.S. government program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. This gives both government and non-government organizations the assurance that a particular cloud service complies with rigorous security controls.
“Federal agencies’ adoption of cloud computing for mission applications is accelerating. By meeting FedRAMP’s extensive standards, we can help agencies make the move to a trusted cloud solution without sacrificing security,” Marcus Collier, senior vice president of GDIT’s health and civilian solutions division, said in a statement.
“The GDIT Cloud is designed to specifically meet the requirements of government customers and to minimize cloud implementation and performance risks,” Collier added.
The company highlighted the GDIT Cloud product provides security, visibility, and performance through proactive monitoring, alerting, and maintenance.
GDIT solutions include cloud security and compliance; managed cloud; Email as a Service (EaaS), Platform as a Service (PAAS); virtual workspace and thin client environments, applications consolidation, migration, and hosting; shared collaboration services; and CloudBroker.
