General Dynamics [GD] last Friday announced several personnel moves, naming Danny Deep as its incoming chief of the company’s Combat Systems segment, and Kim Kuryea as the company’s next chief financial officer (CFO).

Jason Aiken, the company’s current CFO, who has also led GD’s Technologies group since the start of 2023, will focus solely on his operating duties beginning Feb. 15. Aiken has been CFO since 2014.

The Technologies group consists of the Information Technology and Mission Systems segments.

Deep, who has led GD Land Systems for nearly four years, has been with the company more than 29 years. He will succeed Mark Roualet as executive vice president of Combat Systems effective April 15. Roualet is retiring.

“Mark has served General Dynamics with distinction for over 40 years with a demonstrated record of operational excellence,” Phebe Novakovic, GD’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “Danny is a capable, tested leader with a deep background in operations and land forces programs.”

The $7.3 billion Combat Systems business includes Land Systems, European Land Systems, and Ordnance and Tactical Systems.

David Paddock, president of Jet Aviation within GD’s Aerospace segment, will succeed Deep at Land Systems effective April 1. Paddock will be succeeded by Jeremie Caillet, senior vice president of operations in Basel, Switzerland.

Kuryea has been senior vice president of Human Resources and Administration since April 2017 and will become CFO on Feb. 15. Previously, she was vice president and controller since 2011 and before that was CFO of GD Advanced Information Systems beginning in 2007. She will be succeeded by Shane Berg, who is senior vice president of Planning and Development.

“Kim is a seasoned finance executive with over 20 years of varied financial experience with the company including CFO of one of the company’s business units, head of the company’s internal audit function, and the company’s controller,” Novakovic said.

Jefferies aerospace and defense analyst Sheila Kahyaoglu said in a client note that the personnel moves “may set [GD] up for a strategic action or succession plan.”
