General Dynamics [GD] Canada yesterday said it received a $126 contract modification for more Light Armored Vehicles (LAV) for a Foreign Military Sale.
This latest contract modification raises the value of the original contract, announced Jan. 4, to $264 million and a total of 155 LAVs (Defense Daily, Jan. 5).
The vehicles provided under this FMS contract will be 73 LAV IIs. The vehicles are a 300 horsepower 8×8 with a gross vehicle weight of up to 32,000 lbs (14,500 kg). The vehicles will be produced in six different variants.
The U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command issued the contract that was signed through the Canadian Commercial Corporation, a Crown Agency of the Canadian Government.
Sridhar Sridharan, senior vice-president and general manager for International Operations, General Dynamics Land Systems, said, “This order for additional vehicles is the best testament to the effectiveness of our Light Armored Vehicles with our international customers.”
