Technology company and defense contractor Harris Corp. [HRS] on Tuesday announced a five-year, $500 million ceiling contract to develop software to help National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) analysts retrieve data faster and more efficiently.
The software Harris will develop will increase data search capability for content within the NGA and the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence systems in an effort to provide more accurate support to warfighters and intelligence community agents reliant on the geospatial data.
Harris has worked with the NGA for nearly 20 years, helping the agency with data processing and management and is currently providing high resolution geospatial content and products under the Foundation GEOINT Content Management Program.
NGA is a combat support agency within the Department of Defense and an intelligence agency aiding the U.S. Intelligence Community.
Harris declined to provide the value of the first task order it was executing under the contract.
