President Donald Trump plans to nominate Kari Bingen, policy director for the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), to be principal deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence, the White House announced late April 24.
Bingen “has been a principal adviser to HASC members and House leadership on defense policy and strategic force issues,” the White House said. Previously, she was a senior space policy analyst at the Aerospace Corp., where she supported the defense and intelligence community.
Trump has also picked Robert Karem, a Trump presidential transition team adviser and a Middle East policy adviser to Vice President Richard Cheney, to be assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs.
Separately, the White House April 25 announced the appointment of Randolph “Tex” Alles to be director of the U.S. Secret Service. Alles is currently acting deputy commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
