The Navy awarded HII’s [HII] Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division a $528 million five-year contract covering maintenance on aircraft carriers in San Diego.

The contract, awarded on July 21 and announced on July 24, specifically covers emergent work, continuous maintenance availabilities, pre-refueling complex overhaul availabilities, and Chief of Naval Operations scheduled availabilities for Navy aircraft carriers both homeported in and visiting the San Diego area.

The work under this cost-plus-fixed-fee, cost-plus-award fee, cost-plus-incentive-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract is expected to be finished by July 2028.

“We are honored to continue our longstanding tradition of providing world-class service to our U.S. Navy aircraft carriers in San Diego. For more than two decades, we’ve earned the Navy’s trust to carry out this important task, and we look forward to continuing that legacy with the highest quality, on-time and on-budget work,” Thomasina Wright, NNS vice president of fleet support programs, said in a statement.

No funding was obligated at the time of award, but instead will be obligated on individual orders as they are issued.

The DoD announcement said the contract was competitively procured and solicited, but did not say if there were any other competitors.
