Implant Sciences Corp. [IMSC] has received a number of orders worth a combined $2.6 million to supply its handheld Quantum Sniffer QS-H150 explosives trace detectors to customers in China and several other countries. Under a $1.3 million order, Implant will supply devices for use in transportation security in southern China. The company says that the deployment is the first for it in the southern city, which it did not name. A second order worth $586,000 is to supply devices for security screening at the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen. The Universiade is the World University Games and will take place from Aug. 12-22. Implant previously supplied Quantum Sniffers for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and has also supplied the devices to the Civil Aviation Authority of China and several of the country’s rail and subway systems. In another series of orders worth $700,000, Implant will supply QS-H150s to customers in China, Spain, the United Kingdom and Russia for various applications, including airport passenger screening and port security. Some of the orders are with repeat customers, Implant says.
