In space transportation company Impulse Space on Monday said it raised $45 million in a funding round led by the venture arm of RTX [RTX] that will be used in the development of its Helios vehicle.

Other participants in the Series A funding round include Founders Fund, Lux Capital, Airbus Group’s Airbus Ventures, and Space Capital.

“With the support from RTX Ventures, Impulse Space continues on the path toward its mission to provide agile, economic logistics services in any orbit,” Tom Mueller, CEO and founder of Impulse Space, said in a statement. “It speaks volumes that a leading investment firm is confident in the future of Impulse Space and its trailblazing technology.”

Impulse Space, which is based in Redondo Beach, Calif., is designing and developing orbital maneuvering vehicles to insert payloads into unique orbits. The company has developed the Mira vehicle with a focus on low-Earth orbits and is developing the Helios, its largest vehicle, to enable direct to geostationary equatorial orbit.
