The State Department approved a possible $95 million Foreign Military Sales (FMS) request to Indonesia for AIM-120C-7 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs), equipment, training, and logistics support.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the potential sale on March 9.
The possible FMS includes 36 AIM-120C-7 AMRAAMs and one Missile Guidance Section. It also includes control section support equipment, spare parts, services, logistics, technical contractor engineering and technical support, loading adaptors, technical publications, familiarization training, test equipment, and other related elements. The major defense equipment (MDE) comprises about $80 million of the total sale.
The prime contractor was not decided at the time of approval and will be determined by competition, DSCA said.
Indonesia would use the equipment to improve its capability to deter regional threats and strengthen its homeland defense, DSCA said in a statement.
Implementation of the FMS would not require the assignment of any U.S. government or contractor representatives to Indonesia.
