ITT [ITT] was recently awarded a potential $49.5 million contract by the Joint Program Executive Office for the Joint Tactical Radio System (JPEO JTRS) to provide Software In-Service Support (SwISS) for the JTRS Bowman Waveform (JBW).
“ITT has been an industry leader in working with the JPEO JTRS International Program to create communications interoperability between the United States and its allies to support mission success and safety,” Chris Bernhardt, president of ITT’s electronic systems business, said in a statement.
JBW provides U.S. JTRS software-defined radios with a waveform that is interoperable with the United Kingdom’s Bowman Waveform, supporting secure, networked voice and data for combined operations on the battlefield.
The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract covers a five-year period with work being completed by ITT’s electronic systems business in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Clifton, N.J.
The SwISS includes technical support, enhancements, and maintenance and upgrades.
The first task order to be awarded from this contract will provide for the delivery of JBW software that meets the JTRS Information Security Criteria. This will happen in about 12 months, the company told Defense Daily recently.
ITT developed the Bowman Waveform that runs on its Bowman radios. Its company in the U.K. is ITT Defence Limited.
ITT delivered the JBW under contract to JTRS JPEO in 2007.
