ITT Corp. [ITT] has been awarded a $6.9 million contract from the Public Works and Government Services Canada to supply the Canadian Forces with AN/PVS-14 monocular night vision devices.

This is a follow on order to the 2004 $19 million night vision portion of the Canadian Army’s Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Night Observation program.

Under the terms of the contract, ITT will supply additional AN/PVS-14 monocular night vision devices to the Canadian Forces.

“We’re proud to continue our strong relationship with the Canadian Forces by continuing to provide them with the high-performing, versatile night vision monocular they have been using for years,” said Mike Hayman, president of ITT Night Vision’s business. “We are pleased to see our international customers remain committed to ITT’s Generation III night vision products knowing that our technology pipeline provides them the overmatch capability required to meet their high-tempo operations.”

The AN/PVS-14 is a high-performance, lightweight and reliable night vision goggle that provides enhanced resolution for target recognition and identification. These rugged devices can be hand-held, head- or weapon-mounted, or fitted to a camera. ITT’s generation III system uses the same micro channel plate as a Generation II image intensifying tube, but instead includes a gallium arsenide photocathode, which further improves image resolution under low light conditions. In addition, the micro-channel plate is now coated with an ion barrier film for increased tube life
