ITT Exelis [XLS] said recently that it has acquired a small company that produces real-time signal processing systems software and algorithms for exploiting hyperspectral data.
Terms of the deal for Space Computer Corp. were not disclosed. Space Computer had $14.1 million in sales last year and has 37 employees.
“Space Computer Corp.’s solutions address the challenge of data processing, an area of concern for a wide variety of our existing customers, as well as the military and intelligence communities overall,” Danny Rajan, director of Emerging Offerings at Exelis Geospatial Systems, said in a statement. “This acquisition aligns well with both our business strategy to be the leading provider of data processing, exploitation and dissemination solutions and with our desire to grow our technical capability in helping customers collect critical data and expediently process it to support decision-making.”
California-based Space Computer’s technology and expertise is used in solving information processing problems associated with advanced sensor systems, particularly hyper-spectral sensors. Customers include Defense Department laboratories and agencies, NASA, other government organization and commercial and industrial firms.
Exelis says that Space Computer has provided technology for nearly every United States military hyperspectral sensor produced since 1996.
