Norway’s Kongsberg Gruppen yesterday said it received an approximately $34 million purchase order for the CROWS II program from the U.S. Army.
The CROWS II order is for spare parts and is part of the increased CROWS II framework contract issued this past summer. It was a new, five-year framework agreement valued up to $940 million from the U.S. Army for production, system support and technical engineering support (Defense Daily, Aug. 21).
The initial CROWS II framework agreement was Aug. 27, 2007.
CROWS is a joint acquisition program for weapon stations for the U.S. Army`s vehicle programs. A common solution will result in substantial efficiency gains in respect of protection, training, support and further development.
The Protector Weapon Control System protects military troops by allowing the vehicle’s weapons to be operated from a protected position inside the vehicle.
