Kentucky has awarded L-1 Identity Solutions [ID] a potential nine-year, $33.7 million contract to provide a secure driver's license solution with facial recognition to prevent fraud. The contract has a three-year, $11.1 million base period and three two-year option periods. Kentucky uses an over-the-counter driver's license issuance system that includes photo image capture and enrollment. L-1 supplies its facial recognition technology to the state to prevent persons from establishing duplicate identities. L-1 has worked with Kentucky's driver's licenses since 2001.
