L-3 Communications [LLL] on Monday said it has appointed long-time aerospace and defense analyst to the new position of vice president and chief analytics officer in support of the company’s business development and merger and acquisitions strategy.
Wood joined L-3 from aircraft structures manufacturer Spirit AeroSystems [SPR], which she joined in July 2013 as senior vice president for strategy, working on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, operational and cost performance, and investor relations.
At L-3 Wood is reporting to Chris Kubasik, the company’s president and chief operating officer. She will also work with Ralph D’Ambrosio, L-3’s chief financial officer, overseeing the investor relations functions.
“Heidi brings to L-3 a wealth of industry and financial expertise as well as a reputation for performance that makes her ideally suited for this multifaceted role,” Kubasik said in a statement. “As we continue to drive growth, enhance operational excellence and increase shareholder value, she will be instrumental in executing new corporate initiatives and working with the financial community.”
Before joining Spirit AeroSystems, Wood spent six months at charter business jet operator Avjet Corp. as senior vice president for global sales and acquisitions. Avjet recently was acquired by General Dynamics’ [GD] Jet Aviation subsidiary.
Between 1999 and 2013 Wood as managing director, senior aerospace and defense analyst for the investment bank Morgan Stanley. Wood was an analyst with the investment firm Cowen and Company before joining Morgan Stanley.
L-3 Chairman and CEO Michael Strianese said in a statement that Wood’s experience and her “contributions will enhance our ability to strengthen L-3’s business and deliver on our long-term strategic vision.”
Wood has also served on the board of the Space Foundation and on the Presidential Commission on the Future of the U.S. Aerospace Industry.
