L3Harris Technologies [LHX] has received a $256 million order from the Army to deliver more Enhanced Night Vision Goggle–Binocular (ENVG-B) devices, the company said on Monday.
The new production order is the first to be placed under the ENVG-B program of record, full-rate production contract, which L3Harris noted could total nearly $1 billion over 10 years.
“We are committed to ensuring U.S. soldiers stay steps ahead of peer adversaries at all times, and we are honored to put modern night-vision solutions into the hands of more warfighters as part of the ENVG-B program,” Christopher Kubasik, chair and CEO of L3Harris, said in a statement. “Our continued partnership with the Army and internal technology investments will keep this system ahead of the threat for years to come.”
L3Harris and Elbit Systems of America have been delivering the Army’s new ENVG-B devices, with both firms having received production deals in October 2020 worth potentially $442 million to begin replacing its legacy monocular night vision devices with the new system (Defense Daily, Oct. 22 2020).
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee who previously pressed Army officials on how ENVG-B fits into the Army’s long-term night vision strategy, also commented on the new order to L3Harris, which produces the system in Londonderry, New Hampshire (Defense Daily, May 5, 2022).
“L3Harris’ Londonderry workforce plays a critical role in support of our national security,” Shaheen said in a statement. “This award I helped secure for the ENVG-B program will continue to support production of their cutting-edge night vision capability for the warfighter. I’ll continue working in Congress to keep New Hampshire on the frontlines of producing this critical technology.”
The Army’s FY ‘25 budget request includes approximately $100 million for the ENVG-B program.
L3Harris on Monday said it has delivered more than 13,000 ENVG-B devices to the Army to date.
