Leidos [LDOS] on Wednesday said it has received a potential $100 million task order from the Department of Commerce to provide cyber and enterprise security operations for the department and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), an agency within the department that does scientific research focused on the environment.
Under the task order, which has a base-year and four one-year options, Leidos will support NOAA’s Cyber Security Center, which performs around-the-clock monitoring for network threats. NOAA’s network supports more than 20,000 users.
Leidos will also support the department’s Enterprise Security Operations Center, which provides cyber security status information for all the department’s bureaus.
A Leidos spokeswoman told Defense Daily the award is new work for the company.
“Cyber is one of our core competencies, and we assembled a team of cyber security experts to meet NOAA and DOC’s mission requirements,” Angie Heise, president of Leidos’ Civil Group, said in a statement.
