Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has is offering the opportunity to license intellectual property for the Rapid Identification of Explosives Using Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC) and Colorimetric Techniques MicroTLC Kit. LLNL scientists have designed a new miniaturized field-portable TLC chromatography detection kit for explosives identification by improving field utility to meet first responder and military requirements. TLC is a well established laboratory procedure that identifies compounds belonging to the same chemical class. A streamlined sampling and testing protocol has been developed for this new kit that allows rapid, reproducible, separation and identification of the explosives. Advantages of the kit include the separation and identification of known and unknown explosives and their components for military applications including unexploded ordnance, suspect explosive components, pipe bombs and improvised explosive devices. LLNL has developed a working laboratory prototype. Sol. No. FBO224-10. Respond by Sept. 1. Contact: Connie Pitcock, 925-422-1072, [email protected].
