Lockheed Martin [LMT] has received a $31 million contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for the Military Protocol Network program, which will develop new router technologies that will include authentication and self-configuration capabilities to improve security, reduce the need for trained network personnel and lower overall life-cycle costs for network management. Alcatel-Lucent‘s [ALU] LGS Innovations business unit is a teammate of Lockheed Martin’s on the project, helping to define, design, develop and test the common elements used in the DARPA solution.
