Lockheed Martin [LMT] yesterday said its Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS) business area has received ISO 20000 certification for its information technology (IT) services and solutions, completing an effort by the company to obtain key standards certifications for its cyber security and IT services offerings.
The ISO 20000 certification, when combined with the ISO 27001 certification it received in 2009 for information security processes, makes Lockheed Martin one of just five companies and government agencies based in the United States to obtain both technical certifications.
“These critical IT services and security certifications are key to meeting Lockheed Martin’s goals in the areas of program and performance excellence,” Rick Johnson, chief technology officer of IS&GS, said in a statement. “The achievement is a significant benefit we can now provide on our more than 2,300 customer contracts and 17,000 suppliers that rely on resilient systems and trusted services to meet their core mission goals.”
The other organizations that have achieved both ISO certifications are The World Bank, Samsung’s U.S. division, Unisys [UIS] and Verizon [VZ].
The ISO 20000 certification focused on IS&GS IT solutions and services and the company’s services engineering centers of excellence. One of the reviews the standards organization did of IS&GS focused on an information assurance program the company is doing for the 844th Communications Group at Andrews AFB, Md.
