Lockheed Martin [LMT] will continue to maintain a U.S. Space and Missile Command system that distributes early warning missile data to American and allied commanders, the company said yesterday.
The Air Force awarded Lockheed Martin a $21.5-million follow-on contract that could reach a total value of $78 million over a five-year period to support the Shared Early Warning System (SEWS), the company said.
“We’ll continue to ensure that the SEWS program provides agile, affordable and timely missile event data to our (combatant commanders) and our partner nations,” Cliff Spier, Lockheed Martin’s vice president of command and control solutions, said in a statement.
SEWS is installed at 37 sites globally and provides required support to U.S. European Command, U.S. Central Command and U.S. Pacific Command, according to a statement.
