McAfee [MFE] will take on the moniker of its parent company Intel Corporation [INTC], Intel CEO Brian Krzanich said on Jan. 6.
The McAfee brand will be phased out and replaced with Intel Security. The anti-virus and Internet security software provider will continue operating as a subsidiary of Intel. It will also retain its red shield logo.
As part of the transition, Intel will offer certain McAfee mobile security solutions for free. Details will be announced in the coming months.
Intel acquired McAfee in 2011. The company reports its revenues at more than $2 billion annually. Its customers include government agencies, commercial enterprises, small businesses and home users.
