Arcfield last week said it has acquired Orion Space Solutions, bolstering its capabilities in space exploration and hypersonic detection and tracking for customers in the Defense Department and intelligence community.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Arcfield, which is based in Northern Virginia, has more than 1,400 employees and is a technology and mission support provider in the areas of military space, hypersonic missions and nuclear deterrence, cybersecurity, and avionics maintenance, engineering, and supply chain services. Arcfield is a portfolio company of the private equity firm Veritas Capital.
Orion Space, which is based in Colorado, has expertise in sensor and payload design, small satellites and CubeSat spacecraft integration and manufacturing, and space mission operations and data analysis. Orion’s customers include U.S. Space Systems Command.
“Arcfield has a long history in delivering innovative solutions across the space domain, and we believe the acquisition of Orion enhances Arcfield’s ability to provide next-generation space technologies in support of DoD and IC missions,” Kevin Kelly, Arcfield’s chairman and CEO, said in statement.
Geoff Crowley, who was CEO of Orion, is now Arcfield’s chief scientist. Chad Fish, who was Orion’s chief operating officer, is now president and general manager of the business, which will operate as the fourth business sector of Arcfield.
