The Navy awarded 1,870 multiple-award contracts for future competition of expected $5 billion annually for next generation seaport support work under the SeaPort Next Generation (SeaPort-NxG) contract vehicle.

Work under this contract vehicle is divided between engineering support services and program management support services, which are further divided into 23 total functional areas, including engineering, financial management, and program management.

SeaPort is the Navy’s electronic platform to acquire support services in the 23 functional areas. In June, when the Navy started accepting vendor proposals, it said a major requirement to win an award is proof of work experience within the previous 10 years that directly support the Navy Department as a prime or subcontractor related to one of the 23 functional areas.

The Navy estimates $5 billion total in services will be procured each year through orders issued under the SeaPort-NxG contracts. The award provisions include set aside requirements for various types of small businesses.

Under the multiple-award contracts, each vendor will be provided “a fair opportunity to nationally compete for individual task orders,” the Navy said. Each contract will have a five-year base performance period with a five-year ordering option period. Contracts will be obligated at the time of task order award, not based on the basic multiple award contract awards.

The Navy said multiple funding types may be used and funding for task orders will come from a variety of sources.

The service received 1,894 offers for the contract vehicle and selected 1,870 winners.
