The other major piece of this award includes Phase One of Super Hornet and EA/-18G Growler technical data package, including the operation, maintenance, installation and training data to support Navy sustainment efforts on the Super Hornet and Growler.

The work will largely be split between Hazelwood, Mo. (46.7 percent) and El Segundo, Calif. (35.8 percent) and is expected to be finished by April 2027.

At award time, the Navy is obligating $213 million in fiscal year 2022 Navy aircraft procurement funds and $50 million in FY 2023 funds.  The FY ‘22 funding will expire at the end of this fiscal year.

The Navy procured the last eight Super Hornets in FY 2023 for $671 million, with the production line set to start shutting down in FY ‘24. The Navy previously tried to end the Super Hornet line early to focus on the Net Generation Air Dominance and other aviation programs, but Congress added more aircraft in FY ‘22 and ‘23.
