A U.S. Navy frigate ran aground on the shores of Turkey earlier this month while it was preparing to moor, the Navy said this week.
The Navy is investigating how the USS Taylor (FFG-50), an
Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate, hit ground in Samsun, a major port city on the Black Sea.
The ship was able to successfully moor despite the Feb. 12 incident, the U.S. 6th Fleet reported. There were no injuries.
The Taylor was in the area to conduct maritime security and enhance cooperation efforts with regional nations, the Navy said.
