The Netherlands wants to spend a potential $44 million on a Foreign Military Sale of Small Diameter Bombs1 (SDB1), the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress July 26.
This would be the first sale of the weapon to the Netherlands.
Boeing [BA] would be the principal contractor.
The Netherlands has requested a possible sale of 603 GBU-39/B SDB1, containers, flight test integration, spare and repair parts, support equipment, personnel training and equipment, publications and technical data, U.S. government and contractor engineering and logistics personnel services, and other related elements of logistics support.
The proposed sale would improve the Netherlands’ military capabilities, and standardization and interoperability with U.S. forces.
The sale of this equipment and support would improve The Netherlands’ ability to destroy protected, high-value targets such as command and control nodes and weapons storage facilities, DSCA said in a statement.
The program would involve multiple trips to the Netherlands by U.S. government and contractor representatives for one to two week intervals for about three years.
