Northrop Grumman [NOC] has received a potential $44.4 million contract by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide an integrated system for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that will locate and track detainees, reserve detainee bed space among various facilities, and manage detainee transportation. The initial task order is for $14 million and covers a one-year base period during which Northrop Grumman and its teammates will develop and deploy a wireless network infrastructure at detention facilities that will initially be used for detainee tracking and will be able to support evolving technology needs. Under the task order Northrop Grumman will also deploy the central reservation capability. “This key win helps to further expand Northrop Grumman’s expertise within DHS,” says Jerry Buckwalter, Northrop Grumman’s vice president of homeland security. Northrop Grumman’s teammates include SoftBrands, System Analytics, Inc., Alanco/TSI Prisim, Inc., Cogent Systems [COGT], Cross Match Technologies, Dell Inc. [DELL], IBM [IBM], and Oracle Corp. [ORCL]. The award was made under the DHS EAGLE contract.
