A new General Dynamics [GD] data encryptor has been certified by the National Security Agency (NSA) and can now be operated by the Navy and other military services, the company said.
The TACLANE 10G encrypting device, which is a little larger than a home DVD player, is capable of encrypting top secret data during operations, allowing it to be shared at sea, on land or in the air.
The Navy is taking deliveries of more than 100 of the devices with the Air Force, Army and Marine Corps also receiving the TACLANE 10G encryptor, which has a capacity of 10 gigabytes, said Arlene Chase, the account manager for the program at General Dynamics Mission Systems.
The NSA certified the device for operations in early January.
It is designed to distribute high definition video as well as other intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data in secure environment.
The TACLANE10G is built on earlier version of TACLANE but carries greater bandwidth than previous models.
Chase said it is also capable of detecting, reporting and classifying cyber intrusions.
