Machine-to-Machine (M2M) solutions provider Orbcomm [ORBC] and satellite communications services provider Inmarsat are teaming to take advantage of what they called the rapidly growing M2M market with a goal of creating a standard satellite-based global M2M network. Orbcomm and Inmarsat will work together to create a standard satellite platform and develop cost-effective hardware and flexible service pricing models for the global M2M industry, according to an Orbcomm statement.
