Oshkosh [OSK] is nearing completion on two key contracts supplying the military with Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, company officials said.
In the next few months Oshkosh plans to deliver more than 600 of its MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) as part of a joint contract with the Army and Marine Corps, reaching a total of 8,700 that were ordered under an urgent requirement to counter to threat of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Iraq and Afghanistan, Ken Juergens, Oshkosh’s vice president and general manager for joint programs, said.
Meanwhile, Oshkosh has completed work on a contract the ends this month after delivering 11,011 Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) platforms under a Navy-Marine Corp program. Since delivery of the MTRVs, Oshkosh has been involved in post-engineering and redesign, John Bryant, Oshkosh’s vice president and general manager for Marine Corps programs, said.
The MTVR is designed to be a high performance, durable all-terrain vehicle capable of carrying 15 tons of cargo on the highway and up to seven tons off-road.
